Media Person of the Year to visit BBC World News Room in London

A visit to location filming on site or in studio awaits winner in Singapore Media Awards

Singapore, 26 July 2006 – With the heat of competing in the Singapore Media Awards building up, the stakes for the winner of the Media Person of the Year has been upped. BBC World, the BBC’s international 24-hour news and information channel, will send the winner to London to visit their newsroom.

Additionally, the winner will visit the location filming of either current affairs or lifestyle programmes either on site or in the studio.

Furthermore, the winners of the Grand Prix Prize, which is awarded to the best overall media campaign, will fly to Cannes, France, to attend the Cannes Lions 2007. The International Advertising Festival is the place to be at for the advertising and media industry.

The Singapore Media Awards, the second in the series is organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore (4As). Said Mr Manpreet Singh, CEO of MindShare and Chairman for Singapore Media Awards 2006: “It is good to see entries still coming in for the competition. The standard has been good so far, but we believe that there are more potential winners out there. I would encourage any agency worth its value to put their hat in the ring.”

The Singapore Media Awards will showcase the importance of outstanding media thinking and strategising behind highly successful advertising campaigns. There will be 16 awards given out, including three special merit awards and the prestigious Grand Prix.

In keeping with the growing prestige of the awards, more new sponsors have stepped up to show their support. Besides BBC World, AXN, Moove Media and TIME have agreed to sponsor the event.

The awards will be presented during the Awards Show on 15 September at the Ritz Carlton Millenia. Entry deadline is 4 August 2006. Full entry details are available at www.sma.com.sg.
